Cheap Maternity Clothes Are Not That Hard To Find

maternity clothes, cheap maternity clothes

Having a baby is a wonderful experience but it can be a pretty expensive one as well. Finding clothes for the new arrival is challenging enough but we also need to get outfits for ourselves while we are pregnant and this is the real challenge for many moms who don’t want to spend more than they can afford. Affordable maternity clothes may not be as difficult to come by as you may think.

If you are planning your pregnancy in advance, why not choose to purchase your pregnancy outfits off season? You can find really affordable maternity clothes when you buy them at the end of a particular time of year. For example, if you are planning a winter pregnancy, then you would stock up on outfits in the spring and summer months.

While buying off season is great for many moms-to-be it can be a bit of a gamble. First of all, the affordable maternity clothes will wind up being a complete waste of money if you can’t actually use them. Even the most carefully planned pregnancies offer some surprises like excess weight gain or not getting pregnant in the months that you anticipated. Either of these could throw off your plans.

Outlet malls may be a better option for moms trying to find affordable maternity clothes that they can wear right away. I found a handful of great items in this venue but none of the deals were really outstanding. I paid about 10 to 25 percent less than retail which is quite nice but I am a little bit greedy when it comes to saving money especially when it is for pregnancy clothes that I’m only going to wear for a few months.

Considering that these outfits don’t get much wear you may want to opt for a consignment shop for your affordable maternity clothes. There are a few drawbacks that I have found in these stores. The first problem is finding an outfit that I like that actually fit properly. Sure, I found lots of nice pregnancy clothing but I was really limited in selection.

Since I was already set on saving a bundle on my pregnancy gear I figured that I might as well shop online for some great deals. I found second hand outfits on sites like EBay and Craigslist. I also found some astonishing new outfits that were really reasonable. When it comes to affordable maternity clothes the Internet is the ideal place to start shopping.

Styling Option In Maternity Clothes

maternity clothes, maternity wear

When buying maternity clothes, the pregnant and post-partum woman needs to consider designs which allow for her ever changing body. They should move comfortably while providing a sense of freedom and confidence to the wearer.

To allow pregnant women more comfort in their pants, look for one with a stretchable band. Japanese Weekend pioneered a support waistband which fits under the belly and provides back support. This allows the expecting mom to breathe easier and be more comfortable as her belly expands. They offer this style waistband from casual maternity pants and jeans to office and maternity dress pants. Additionally this under the belly style doubles as a great transition wear pant for after the baby as you transition back to your pre-pregnancy size. Other designers usually include an elastic band with a button to adjust the waist during pregnancy.

Pregnant mothers should consider a during and after type of maternity clothes. As the name suggests, the during & after clothing are designed to be worn while a woman is pregnant and then into the post partum period when she is nursing. The nursing tops are designed for easy access but allow discretion when nursing while not looking like a maternity or nursing top. Such items in a D&A line include a cross front top, sometimes called the cross over top which offers the versatility of a maternity top while doubling as a nursing top.

A common theme among maternity dresses is the Diane von Furstenburg styling of the classic wrap dress. The wrap dress is a stylish staple maternity dress that can be worn to the office or out to dinner. This basic yet sophisticated wrap style works perfectly for the expecting mom as it has room for growing. The adjustable sash wrap is easy to wear and provides a flattering and comfortable fit. Also, dresses which use the lux jersey fabric give a wonderful sleek look with no wrinkles and no ironing.

Not to be forgotten are the clever convertibles - meaning a piece of clothing that can be worn multiple ways. They offer several styles of strapless maternity dresses that can also be worn as a maternity skirt and sometimes even reversed for another color or pattern! Some styles can be worn as a maternity dress and nursing dress and then separated to be worn as a maternity and nursing top and skirt. The convertibles allow you to get a lot of mileage out of a piece of clothing while giving you many ways to alter your style.

Lastly, one of other article of maternity clothes is the maternity sleepwear. Look for designs which go underbelly for more comfort. As expected, maternity pajamas offer more room in the belly area. Generally, maternity pajamas will come in ankle or crop length pants. Unlike the common pajama for non-pregnancy use, if you plan on nursing, look for one designed for easy nursing access. This makes for a great feature to allow the sleepwear to be worn for both maternity and post partum nursing.
